| This kit
was sculpted by one of the hobbies most renowned and talented
artists... Mike Hill, he put a lot of detail into
this piece and it definitely shows! From the folds in Spidey's
costume to the scales on the lizard it's a really exceptional looking
sculpt. Mike managed to capture the look of the original, early
Spiderman which was drawn by Steve Ditko for the first three
years. Ditko portrayed Spiderman as a thin and gangly
Teenager, not the buffed up Spidey you see drawn by a lot of the
modern comic book artists.
The kIt was produced by Wolf's Den
and the casting was done by Jayco. Very minor cleanup was
involved ... The fit of the parts took a little fudging and
adjusting to get things seated right... But nothing very
troublesome. Nice clean break lines and the keyed parts made
assembly a lot easier then it could have been.
Figuring out what to
assemble and what not to assemble before painting was the most
difficult part of building this one. I ended up cutting
off the left leg on Spiderman about mid thigh to allow for easier painting.
But trying to get the leg put back together, puttied, sanded and
primed after the rest of the lower torso was done, presented a bit of
a challenge. I
painted everything by hand, no airbrush and I used Delta Ceramcoat
Acrylic craft paints on the entire kit... they worked beautifully,
these have become my primary paints of choice, they thin well with
water and go on very smoothly. Overall
this was a challenging but fun kit to build and was my first full
figure resin kit I've built and painted... If you can find one
and are a fan of Spiderman and/or just a fan of great superhero Garage
Kits, than pick one up, I think you'll enjoy it as much as I did and
besides it really makes for a primo display when finished...
